Privacy Policy

BAM Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing takes the protection of your personal data very seriously. We want you to know what data we collect, when we collect it, and how we use it. We have taken technical and organisational measures to ensure that both we as well as external service providers comply with the provisions governing data protection.

Technical information

Whenever users access one of BAM's websites and whenever a file is called, data is temporarily processed and stored in a log file. Prior to saving, each data set is rendered anonymous by changes to the IP address.

The following information is stored on every access/call:

  • anonymous IP address,
  • date and time of access,
  • accessed page or name of file,
  • transferred data volume,
  • notification whether access or call was successful.

This information is used for statistical purposes only, for improving the service provision and the tracking of potential errors; it is subsequently deleted. The information is not used in any other way and is not passed on.

Disclosure of data to third parties

So-called temporary cookies are used for ease of navigation when individual pages are accessed. These session cookies do not contain any personal data and expire after the end of the session. Tools such as Java applets and ActiveX controls that enable the reconstruction of user access behaviour are not used in the website's public section.

The BAM provides the users of its website with the option of getting into contact. If you intend to use this service, you will be asked to enter personal data required for processing your request. It is entirely up to you whether you wish to use this service. The data entered by you will be stored and processed exclusively for the purpose of processing your request. The ordering of publications may require the forwarding of your data to the service provider commissioned to distribute the material.

Questions on data protection

BAM's data protection officer ensures compliance with the data protection policy. Please feel free to contact the officer in the event of any questions (see right-hand column).

The BAM reserves the right to amend this privacy policy.
